Monzambano and Ponti sul Mincio

Programs with schools

Ended:

31 May 2018

Context

The project, proposed by ‘Fondazione Città di Monzambano’, focuses on environmental education in elementary and middle schools of the Istituto Comprensivo Volta Mantovana in Monzambano and Ponti sul Mincio in the province of Mantua.

The two towns are located in a highly diverse natural environment. The landscape is rich in water thanks to the Mincio River, the Castellaro Lagusello Lake, various water courses, and the proximity to the Garda Lake.  Humid areas and peat bogs develop next to bushes and arid grasslands, lending the territory a particular balance, a high quality of life and, last but not least, a wonderful scenery.

For years, Monzambano and Ponti sul Mincio have made efforts to spread environmental education in schools , particularly for what concerns food health and environment cleaning. Deafal collaborates now with the Foundation and with schools to design and implement specific introductory classes on agroecology.

Info

Deafal takes part in the project to promote environmental and citizenship education both as part of the school course outline; and, more broadly, to encourage social change based on the knowledge of local territory. In particular, Deafal focuses on agroecology and conscious consumerism.

The expected outcomes are:

  • Stimulated today and future adults to have a critical and conscious perspective on the world
  • Promoted conscious consumerism
  • Created a fairer and ecologically sustainable society
  • Enabled the knowledge of local healthy products

The main beneficiaries of the project are the students involved. However, the activities will also benefit teachers, the families of the students and the towns of Monzambano and Ponti sul Mincio.
